This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, disclosed, and otherwise processed by the the respective operating entity of the Site: G2.com, Inc., Software Advice Inc., Capterra Inc., or Nubera eBusiness S.L., as applicable (“we”, “us” or “our”). The term “you” (and its cognates) refers to the user of the Site. Any capitalized term used but not defined herein has the meaning given to it in the General User Terms. 

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the law, the Site, or our business. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy  or any updated Privacy Policy, you must stop using the Site.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through:

  • our websites, mobile-enabled experiences, and related online services;

  • our communications with software buyers, reviewers, vendors, and other business contacts; and

  • any other interactions where this Privacy Policy is linked or made available.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect from:

  • Software buyers and other users, including site visitors, account holders and authenticated users, people who submit reviews, and people who request information or consultations;

  • Software vendors and business customers, including individuals associated with vendor accounts, product listings, lead-generation services, and related business relationships; and

  • Other individuals who communicate with us, such as customer support contacts, marketing contacts, and event participants.

2. Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Services, and from third parties.

A. Information you provide directly

(a) Buyers / Reviewers

We may collect:

  • name and business contact details (e.g., email, phone number);

  • professional information (e.g., job title, employer, industry);

  • account and profile information;

  • Account activity and usage data associated with your interactions within your account (such as pages viewed, features used, and actions taken);

  • review content and associated metadata;

  • communications with us (e.g., support, inquiries);

  • information submitted when requesting consultations, demos, or callbacks;

  • internet or other electronic network or device activity information;

  • records of software products and/or services purchased, obtained or considered; 

  • mobile phone number, including where you choose to receive communications via SMS messages (text message).

If you register or authenticate using a third-party service (e.g., LinkedIn), we may collect:

  • name, profile photo, and profile URL.

(b) Vendors 

We may collect:

  • contact details (name, email, phone);

  • company information (name, location, website);

  • product/listing information;

  • billing and payment-related information;

  • marketing preferences;

  • communications and support interactions.

B. Information collected automatically

When you use the G2 Digital Markets Properties, we and our service providers may automatically collect information such as:

  • IP address;

  • browser type and settings;

  • device identifiers;

  • operating system;

  • referring URLs;

  • pages viewed and links clicked;

  • date and time of visits;

  • session and usage data;

  • approximate geolocation inferred from IP address;

  • interactions with content, features, and advertising; and

  • behavioral or inferred information associated with use of our properties.

C. Information from third parties

  • social login providers;

  • where required by law, we will obtain your consent before sending you SMS messages. By providing your mobile phone number and opting in, you consent to receive such messages, which may be sent using automated or non-automated technology. You are not required to consent to SMS messages as a condition of using our Services. Message and data rates may apply.

C. To personalize and improve our properties

We may use personal information to:

  • personalize your experience;

  • understand how users interact with our properties;

  • perform analytics, research, and trend analysis;

  • improve our websites, products, and services;

  • personalize content and recommendations based on your account activity and usage;

4. Reviews and User-Generated Content

If you submit a review or other public content through one of the G2 Digital Markets Properties, some information may be published publicly.

Depending on the relevant property and submission method:

  • your review may be attributed to you using information such as your name, job title, and company information;

  • you may be permitted to submit a review on an anonymous or “verified user” basis, subject to our review verification procedures; and

  • reviews may be displayed across one or more G2 Digital Markets Properties where relevant to our services.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information in review text, free-form fields, or other public-facing areas unless specifically requested and appropriate.

5. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:

A. Affiliates

We may disclose personal information within the G2 Digital Markets group for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy, including operating the G2 Digital Markets Properties, supporting shared systems and services, administering reviews and listings, handling support and compliance matters, and improving our offerings.

B. Vendors and business customers

Where users request information, consultations, demos, or otherwise engage with lead-generation features, we may disclose relevant personal information to participating software vendors or business customers to fulfill the request, deliver services, or facilitate follow-up. This may include information you provide directly, as well as information related to your expressed interests or interactions with our Services.

C. Service providers

We may disclose personal information to service providers and contractors that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, customer support, communications, advertising, payment processing, security, fraud prevention, and business operations support. These service providers may include providers that assist us in delivering SMS messages on our behalf.

D. Professional advisors and legal recipients

If you have opted in to receive SMS messages from us, you may opt out at any time by following the instructions provided in those messages (such as replying “STOP”). After opting out, you may receive a final confirmation message. If you wish to re-enroll, you may do so through our Services.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and include, for example:

  • account and profile data: duration of the relationship plus applicable legal requirements;

  • review data: duration of publication and any required legal retention period;

  • lead and inquiry data: as necessary to provide services and follow up on requests;

  • marketing data: until you opt out or we determine it is no longer necessary.

Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the data, the relevant property, the context of collection, and applicable legal requirements.

10. International Data Transfers

The G2 Digital Markets Properties are intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. SMS messaging features are not intended for individuals under 18.

  • access personal information;

  • correct inaccurate information;

  • delete personal information;

  • restrict or object to certain processing;

  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the country where you reside, work, or where an alleged infringement has occurred.

  • contacting us through our general support or contact channels available on our Services.

Verification of Requests

To protect your privacy and security, we may need to verify your identity before processing your request. This may include requesting additional information to confirm your identity. Where you are logged into your account, we may use your authenticated session to assist in verifying your identity.

Authorized Agents

Where permitted by law, you may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require verification of both your identity and the agent’s authority.

Response Timing

We will respond to your request within the timeframes required by applicable law. In most cases:

  • within 30 days for requests under GDPR; and

  • within 45 days for requests under applicable U.S. state privacy laws

We may extend these timeframes where permitted by law.

Limitations

In certain circumstances, we may limit or deny your request where permitted by law, such as where:

  • we are required to retain information to comply with legal obligations; or

  • the request is excessive, repetitive, or unfounded.

14. U.S. State Privacy Disclosures

  • categories of sources;

  • purposes for collection, use, and disclosure;

We do not sell personal information in exchange for monetary consideration. We may, however, engage in disclosures that may be considered “sharing” or targeted advertising under certain U.S. state privacy laws. Authorized agents may submit requests on behalf of individuals where permitted by law.

15. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is not yet a universally accepted standard for responding to these signals, our properties may not respond to browser-based Do Not Track signals unless required by applicable law.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version and revise the “Last Updated” date above. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
